Maildrop Blocked on Instagram?

Maildrop domains are blocked on Instagram. Here's why and what you can do instead.

Why It's Blocked

Instagram blocks Maildrop's domain (maildrop.cc) during account registration. Maildrop operates similarly to Mailinator with publicly accessible inboxes, which Instagram's security team considers a high risk for fake account creation and impersonation. The maildrop.cc domain has been on Instagram's blocklist for years, and signup attempts are met with an immediate "This email is not supported" rejection.

What You Can Do

Instagram's blocklist targets well-known disposable email domains, so the workaround is using a service whose domains aren't catalogued yet. NukeMail rotates through fresh domains that look like regular small email providers rather than obvious throwaway services. You also get to pick a custom username like [email protected], which passes Instagram's heuristic checks more reliably than randomly generated addresses.

Email alias services are a strong alternative for Instagram specifically. Apple Hide My Email works natively in iOS Safari during signup, and SimpleLogin creates forwarding addresses on trusted domains. Both are invisible to Instagram's detection because they use infrastructure-grade domains.

If you need a quick private email for social media signups, a free ProtonMail account takes under two minutes and will never be blocked by any major platform. It also gives you encrypted email as a bonus.
