Does Funimation Accept Temporary Email?
WEBSITE COMPATIBILITY · 2 min read
Sometimes - Funimation has been merged into Crunchyroll, but legacy accounts still exist. Temp email acceptance varies but newer domains generally work.
Funimation merged with Crunchyroll in 2024 because Sony consolidated its anime streaming properties. The Funimation website and app now redirect you to Crunchyroll for all new signups. Legacy Funimation accounts still exist in a limited capacity. The platform isn't accepting new registrations independently anymore. If you want to sign up for anime streaming, Crunchyroll is the only option under the Sony anime umbrella now.
Crunchyroll is the destination for new anime streaming signups. They block some known disposable email domains but aren't as aggressive as Netflix or Disney+. NukeMail's fresh domains have a reasonable chance of passing through their validation. This works because Crunchyroll's blocklist inherited Funimation's moderate email filtering instead of building a new list from scratch.
Funimation accounts that used temp emails might have moved to Crunchyroll during the merger. If you had a Funimation account, try logging in to Crunchyroll with the same email and password. The migration transferred your watch history, queue lists and subscription status. But if your temp email expired before the migration, you might have lost access to the moved account. This happens because Crunchyroll sends confirmation emails to verify the migration.
Crunchyroll merged the anime libraries that were split between Funimation and Crunchyroll. Funimation focused on English dubs while Crunchyroll focused on subtitled simulcasts. Crunchyroll now offers both dubbed and subbed versions of most titles. You don't need to keep separate accounts on both platforms anymore. This change reduces the need for multiple temp email signups for anime fans.
If you had a Funimation premium subscription, it should have been moved to a Crunchyroll premium subscription at an equivalent tier. Contact Crunchyroll support if the migration didn't happen automatically. Remember that Crunchyroll support asks for the email address linked to your original Funimation account during the recovery process. This is impossible if you used a temp email that has since expired.
Crunchyroll has a free tier with ads that lets you watch a limited selection of anime. The premium tiers remove ads, give you access to the full library, let you download shows for offline viewing and allow simultaneous streaming on multiple devices. If you want to check out their anime catalog before you pay for a subscription, using a temp email address with their free tier works well.
