Mailinator Blocked on ChatGPT?
Mailinator domains are blocked on ChatGPT. Here's why and what you can do instead.
Why It's Blocked
OpenAI blocks Mailinator domains when creating ChatGPT accounts. As ChatGPT grew rapidly, OpenAI implemented disposable email detection to prevent abuse of free tier limits and to enforce usage policies. Mailinator's public inboxes are a particular concern because they could allow shared or automated account creation. All major Mailinator domains are on OpenAI's blocklist, and registration attempts will fail with an email validation error.
What You Can Do
For ChatGPT, disposable email services with private inboxes and non-obvious domains have better success rates. NukeMail's approach of using domains that resemble regular email providers, combined with private token-based inbox access, addresses both the blocklist and the security concerns that prompted the blocking in the first place.
The simplest reliable option is a free ProtonMail account. OpenAI accepts ProtonMail without issue, and setup takes under a minute. You get a real email address with strong privacy protections.
Note that ChatGPT also requires phone verification for new accounts in most cases, so email alone isn't sufficient for anonymous access. If you're trying to use ChatGPT without personal information, consider that the API with a prepaid credit card offers a more straightforward path.
